YP BARRE
Our signature class. A beautiful blend of Yoga, strength training, Pilates and ballet fundamentals. Tone muscles both on mat and at the barre. No-impact, all fitness levels welcome. Props like light weights, balls, resistance bands, rollers and the ballet barre are used to stretch, tone and sculpt. Each class finishes with Pilates core conditioning and our custom stretch and relaxation for a long-lean physique.
Introduction to the class
YP BARRE uses a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like Yoga and Pilates. The barre is used as a prop to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. This class promises an added fitness challenge including a heavy focus on the legs, glutes, and core.
Schedule and preparation for class
- Come one, come all. YP BARRE can challenge a wide range of ability levels and backgrounds. This popular class can fill in advance and we recommend pre registration.
- Engage your core. When it comes to barre, it’s all in the core. Classes challenge balance and stability by causing the body (especially the core) to engage. This means increased flexibility, better movement, and potentially fewer injuries all around.
- Guys, don’t be shy. Although it may be ballet-based, barre classes can provide a challenging workout for even the manliest of men.
- Come prepared. Participants aren’t required to bring anything to classes, but socks with grips can help prevent slipping and are sold in studio.
YP BARRE is a great way to build up core strength, sculpt the lower body, or just break up a training rut. Whatever the reason, be prepared to have a blast!
